Welcome to Words by Amy Michelle. I am so glad you are here!
I’m Amy Michelle Kennedy — a published author, poetic storyteller whose writing from the heart of Charlotte, North Carolina. My writing is born from ache, shaped by grace, and softened by light.
I write for the ones still healing, the ones carrying stories too big for silence, and for the ones who've learned to keep going, even when everything inside them is exhausted. Much of my work is rooted in grief, faith, and survival. I was adopted at age six after a traumatic early childhood, and I've spent my life navigating the long path of healing and reclaiming my voice.
Through poetry, lyrics, letters, and storytelling, I seek to tell the truth — even the hard parts — and to offer beauty without pretending it came easily. I believe words can be both mirror and balm. I hope mine are a little of both for you.

🍂SEPTEMBER 2025
September has come in with a roar! It's Fall Yall! With that, has come some tremendous opportunities for me. My book, Where the Wildflowers Grow found a home in Park Road Books. Yes a real bookstore! To say I am honored is an understatement!
Park Road Books is an independent bookstore located in Charlotte, NC, and is the city's oldest continuously operated independent bookstore. It has been in business since 1977 and is located in the Park Road Shopping Center. The owner, Sally Brewster is a gem! She is so kind and helpful and she made my experience so easy and enjoyable!
This month, I also joined Local Focal as a vendor. Local Focal Marketplace is a charming, locally focused boutique located at 1941 E 7th St., Suite 3, Charlotte, NC 28204. The boutique brings together a curated collection of local vendors offering diverse products such as accessories, cards, clothing, dresses, dog treats, coffee, and more. Their original location is in Salisbury, North Carolina and has been going for three years strong! I have been blessed with this amazing opportunity and am enjoying getting to know the owner, manager, and associates. Their grand opening/ribbon cutting is this Saturday, Sept 13th, 2025. Please join us in this awesome celebration!

Dear Beautiful People,
If you've found your way here, thank you! Whether by curiosity, by invitation, or by something deeper pulling you in--I'm grateful you're here. This space was born from a tender place in me: a place where grief and beauty hold hands, where silence speaks, and where healing begins, word by word. The poems, the letters, the spoken moments--they're pieces of a soul that's known for both breaking and mending. I don't come offering perfection. Just honesty. Just heart. My hope is that something here meets you where you are--whether you're standing in the light or sitting in the wreckage. I also hope that a phrase stirs your spirit, a verse offers you breath, or a simple truth reminds you: YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Thank you for witnessing these words. Thank you for bringing your presence. It means more than I can say.
